June 14-June 20, 2021

Here’s hoping all the dedicated, hard-working, faithful fathers everywhere feel loved and appreciated today.  A quote that I recently found that Darrel burned into three wooden plagues stated, “Father is the noblest title a man can be given.  It is more than a biological role.  It signifies a leader, an exemplar, a confidant, a teacher,Continue reading “June 14-June 20, 2021”

June 7-June 13, 2021

We’ve had another busy, beautiful week at AOA.  The time is passing much too quickly. Darrel and I finished up our assignment to lead the study of D&C 42 this week.  We celebrated with homemade spudnuts!  Elder and Sister Schwitzer were here Monday and Tuesday. Our normal GA schedule was replaced by a morning side,Continue reading “June 7-June 13, 2021”

May 30, 2021 We started our morning today by joining our grandson Andrew Smith, as he spoke prior to leaving on his mission on June 14th. The sweet bonus was that Abby, his sister was the youth speaker.  How grateful we are for technology and strong grandchildren who are lots of fun, yet whoseContinue reading “WEEK ELEVEN”

May 23, 2021: Through the years I have heard others speak of the opportunity to have a General Authority in their home for a meal.  I had supposed that would never happen for us, but it did this week! Elder and Sister Walker come to our home and had dinner with us for FHE!  AsContinue reading “WEEK TEN”

May 16, 2021 We’ve experienced some firsts this week.  We celebrated our first Mother’s Day here and the Elder’s surprised the Sisters by preparing a lovely dinner that day complete with table decorations.  They ordered meat pies and fruit pies from a sweet member in Pattonsburg and added salads and ice cream to roundContinue reading “WEEK NINE”

May 9, 2021 Our time here rushes by each week. It’s hard to believe we arrived nearly two months ago.  May we say, “Happy Mother’s Day” to each of you wonderful woman we call friends or family.  Elder Holland taught, “What mothers do is an essential element of Christ’s work. May I say toContinue reading “WEEK EIGHT”

May 2, 2021 Sundays at AOA are hard to describe.  We still meet on site with just the other missionaries and an occasional visitor.  Being able to look out over the Adam-ondi-Ahman valley during the sacrament reaches the center of my heart creating feelings I’ve never had at this level before.  My covenant connection withContinue reading “WEEK 7”

April 25, 2021: The men are busy every week.  The director can’t quit smiling as he sees all that is being accomplished each day. Darrel worked at the old Ransom House all week. It is an older home where one of the missionary couples live.  He and Elder Barker headed the efforts.  They removed andContinue reading “WEEK 6”

April 18, 2021 It has been another glorious week at AOA. We spoke in sacrament meeting for the first time today.  We probably over prepared because we felt rather intimidated by the caliber of missionaries here, but it went well.  I spoke about HEARTS in general and Darrel spoke about broken hearts and contrite spirits.Continue reading “WEEK FIVE”
